Named in honor of Charles “Charlie” R. Fritts (1936–2006), Charlie’s Event Center celebrates the life of a respected pilot, community leader, and lifelong supporter of aviation in Southwest Missouri.
Charlie served as a Naval pilot, flew commercially for TWA for more than 30 years, and proudly represented Bates County in the Missouri State Legislature. Beyond aviation, he was deeply involved in his community through civic organizations, local events, and charitable work. Known for his hospitality, leadership, and passion for bringing people together, Charlie helped make the Butler airport a welcoming place for pilots, families, and visitors alike.
Today, Charlie’s Event Center carries on that spirit by offering a warm, family-friendly gathering space designed for celebrations, meetings, and memorable community events.
